COUNTY OF HAWAVI STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 58-1 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ZONTA CLUB OF <br />HILO FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS "AMELIA <br />EARHART GIRLS IN ENGINEERING DAY" EVENT. <br />WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />whose mission is to empower women and girls through public service and advocacy; and <br />WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation sponsors an annual "Amelia Earhart <br />Girls in Engineering Day" event for 40 girls, and their parents, from various East Hawaii public <br />schools; and <br />WHEREAS, this free event will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, and is designed <br />to inspire girls in fourth through eighth grade to pursue science, technology, engineering, and <br />math (STEM) education by providing them with engaging discussions, interactive experiences, <br />and mentorship from local STEM professionals; and <br />WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is requesting funds to purchase t-shirts <br />for the girls and STEM supplies for the workshop activities for its "Amelia Earhart Girls in <br />Engineering Day" event; and <br />WHEREAS, the Committee on the Status of Women, supported by the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney, is tasked with improving the status and well-being of women and girls <br />and working towards gender equality, which is parallel to the mission of the Zonta Club of Hilo <br />Foundation; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation to assist with <br />expenses relating to its "Amelia Earhart Girls in Engineering Day" event. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
