HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 578 Draft 01 2022-2024 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF FIRST RESPONDERS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE ROBUST CONFERENCE 2024. WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders (FOFR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is committed to providing support and resources to strengthen the health and wellness of first responders and their families; and WHEREAS, the ROBUST Conference 2024 is being organized by FOFR and will be held in Waikoloa on September 20-22, 2024; and WHEREAS, the conference is designed to support first responders by providing: (1) activities, training sessions, and resources aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental health, and overall well-being, and (2) a platform for first responders to come together to learn new strategies to handle trauma from critical incidents and the stresses and challenges of their demanding jobs; and WHEREAS, FOFR is requesting funds for the three-day conference to assist with expenses for the rental of audio and visual equipment such as a projector and screen, wireless microphones, and speakers, as well as technician fees for the set up and take down of equipment; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs and activities that promote education and well-being in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment, such as the ROBUST Conference 2024 for first responders; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Friends of First Responders to assist with expenses for the ROBUST Conference 2024. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $4,000 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $4,000 CREDITED TO: 010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $4,000 Public Programs 115 Misc. Contract Services (FOFR – ROBUST Conference 2024) BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
