RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A GRANT TO THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY DEPARTMENT
OF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the Corporation for National and Community Service (AmeriCorps) has authorized $40,000 to be provided to the County of Hawai‘i, Department of Research & Development; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this agreement is to deliver trainings from local historians, cultural practitioners, and other resources to AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA)
members to ensure their thorough understanding of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant
to those powers; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with section 46-7, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawai‘i is authorized to execute,
on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the Corporation for National and Community Service for services as described above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Department of Finance, and the Department
of Research and Development.
