Your Policy Committee on Infrastructure and Assets,to which was referred Bill No. 185, reports
as follows:
. Bill No. 185, transmitted by Public Works Director Stephen M. Pause via Communication _
No. 945, dated July 5, 2024, amends Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 6, Section 24-288.1,
Schedule 36.1 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as Amended), Relating to Active
Loading and Unloading Zones.
This bill adds a portion of Akoni Pule Highway approximate to Holy Bakery Road, to designate
an area for distribution of consumer goods to patrons and neighboring businesses.
Committee Member Cindy Evans acknowledged this amendment is being proposed in her district
as it relates to numeous concerns about Akoni Pule Highway. Public Works Deputy Director
Malia Kekai stated this was a response to community concerns about the need for the facilitation
of access to services for local businesses.
Your Policy Committee on Infrastructure and Assets is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Bill No. 185, and recommends its passage on first reading.
