Your Policy Committee on Infrastructure and Assets, to which was referred Bill No. 186, reports
as follows:
Bill No. 186, transmitted by Council Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz via Communication
No. 962, dated July 19, 2024, amends Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5, Section 24-280,
Schedule 28 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as Amended),Relating to No
parking at Anytime.
This bill prohibits parking alongside two portions of Kalapana-Kapoho Beach Road from(1) a
point 320 feet southwest of Pohoiki Road and extending 165 feet in the southwesterly direction;
and(2) 693 feet southwest of Pohoiki Road and extending 241 feet in the southwesterly
direction.
Committee Member Kierkiewicz acknowledged this amendment is being proposed due to
community concerns about enforcement of no parking areas. She acknowledged the work of the
Department of Public Works, Traffic Division, who made the assessment and installed the signs.
Your Policy Committee on Infrastructure and Assets is in accord with the purpose and intent of
. Bill No. 186, and recommends its passage on first reading.
