Subject: Support Resolution 561-24
Aloha Chair Kimball and Council Members,
I strongly support the passage of Resolution 561-24, which would authorize the finance director to enter
into negotiations to acquire approximateLy 68.84 acres of [and to protect and preserve cultural and
naturaL resources and open certain areas of the property for education, gathering, and cultural
practices.
These parcels have been identified by the PONC Commission and this potential use has strong
community support.
It should be noted that, contrary to the evident misunderstanding of a minority of council members, this
authorization is only to attow the County to be prepared and ready to act, should the tanclowner become

This resolution does not put any pressure on the owner to sell; in fact, the owners' representative took
the time to testify that they take no position on this resolution. They have been quite clear that - to date -
they are not interested in setting.
Also please note that this resolution does not require the county to purchase anything.
This resolution simply allows county staff tDbg3ikovvedtoquickly negotiate toward ofair market
purchase in the case of an "if and when" opportunity of a changed mind on the part of the setter, as has
happened inseveral other POyJCpurchases.
Mahato foryour time and consideration,
