STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 589 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LO`I <br />COLLECTIVE FOUNDATION FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS ANNUAL KANU <br />VOLLEYBALL CLASSIC AT THE WAIMEA DISTRICT PARK. <br />WHEREAS, the Lo`i Collective Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is to create and provide services and programming rooted in philosophies of sport, <br />movement, mental health, wellness, cultural preservation, and sustainability; and <br />WHEREAS, the I,o`i Collective Foundation's Nahona Alapa program is a youth sports <br />education, development, and accessibility program that serves rural and underserved <br />communities with funding that is supported through grants, corporate sponsorships, donations, <br />and revenue producing programs; and <br />WHEREAS, through its Nahona Alapa program, Lo`i Collective Foundation will be <br />hosting its Annual Kanu Volleyball Classic, which will be held on August 30 and 31, 2024, at <br />the Waimea District Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lo`i Collective Foundation is requesting funds to assist with fees for <br />athletic trainers, officials, as well as for the purchase of game balls, ball carrier, tee-shirts for <br />volunteer staff, and two banners; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department Parks and Recreation's mission is to provide a wide array <br />of services for the public with Excellence, Integrity, and Aloha; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Lo`i Collective Foundation for expenses relating <br />to its annual Kanu Volleyball Classic at the Waimea District Park. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
