Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
The 2000-2001 Capital Budget and Program consisting of 19 projects with a total cost of $34,558,000 is submitted for your
review and approval. The County's share of the costs is $16,758,000, which will be matched by $12,800,000 in Federal
Grants. $5,000,000 will be funded from the State Revolving Fund.
The primary focus of the Capital Budget and Program is on projects that provide for the health and safety of our
community. Several of our projects are for necessary repairs to existing facilities. We have also included projects whose
funds will lapse and will need to be re-appropriated by June 30, 2000.
We will strive to fulfill our obligations to comply with the mandates of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and to
make safety improvements to our highways.
The Capital Budget and Program includes projects in communities throughout our island, and we ask for your favorable
consideration.
