HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 596 Draft 01 2022-2024A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF FIRST
RESPONDERS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE 2025 APPRECIATION WEEKS.
WHEREAS, the Friends of First Responders (FOFR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing support and resources to strengthen the health and wellness of first responders
and their families; and
WHEREAS, the FOFR is working in collaboration with our island first responder agencies, which includes but is not limited to, police, fire, emergency medical services, corrections,
sheriffs, park rangers, and Civil Defense to support the 2025 Appreciation Weeks; and
WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunications Week will be held April 13-19, 2025; Corrections Week on May 4-10, 2025; Police Week on May 11-17, 2025; and Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
on May 18-24, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the FOFR is requesting funds to assist with expenses for graphic design creations for promotional material such as banners, signs and flyers; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs and activities that promote education and well-being in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment, such as the acknowledging
first responders during Appreciation Weeks in 2025; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Director of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Friends of First Responders to assist with expenses for the 2025 Appreciation Weeks.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
