A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE CHILDREN’S
JUSTICE CENTER OF EAST HAWAIʻI, INC., TO ASSIST WITH ITS EMERGENCY CLOSET PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of East Hawaiʻi, Inc., (FCJCEH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to meet the needs of abused and neglected children
of East Hawaiʻi and to educate the public about child abuse; and
WHEREAS, FCJCEH’s 24-hour Emergency Closet program provides basic necessities and other essential items to help children who are victims of abuse; and
WHEREAS, FCJCEH is requesting funds to assist with purchasing items for its Emergency Closet program that include clothing, footwear, hygiene and grooming items, bathroom essentials,
dental supplies, furniture (shelves, wardrobes, desks, desk lamps, bed frames, mattresses), bedding, luggage, duffle bags, backpacks, school supplies, laptops for homework, laptop bags,
chargers, headphones, earbuds, car seats, baby diapers and wipes, baby food and feeding essentials (formula, bottles, nipples, utensils, cups, etc.), pacifiers, educational and therapeutic
toys, coloring books, first aid kits, sanitation items, plastic storage bags and bins, flashlights, head lamps, batteries, bicycles, and athletic gear (helmets, pads, braces, shin guards,
hand wraps, hand grips, bandages, swimsuits, swim caps, etc.); and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that bring awareness and education to our youth and community on living a healthy, alcohol-free, and drug-free lifestyle;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of East Hawaiʻi, Inc., to assist with its Emergency Closet program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
