Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 584-24, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 5 84-24, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 978, dated August 1, 2024, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Corporation
for National and Community Service.
This resolution allows for a cost -share agreement for up to ten Volunteers in Service to America
members with the County funding two members at a cost up to $45,764, and eight additional members
supported by AmeriCorps, to strengthen and supplement efforts to eliminate poverty -related human,
social, and environmental problems.
Research and Development Director Douglass Adams appeared via teleconference and provided a brief
background on this matter.
Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked if these individuals would be placed in the
Department of Research and Development or if other county departments would have an opportunity
to work with these volunteers. Mr. Adams said these individuals would be utilized beyond the
Department of Research and Development.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 584-24, and
recommends its adoption.
