Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 585-24, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 585-24, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 979, dated August 1, 2024, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Corporation
for National and Community Service, pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7, for a grant to
the Hawaii County Department of Research and Development.
This resolution allows for the receipt of $40,000 of federally -derived funds to provide community -based
training and regional education from local historians, cultural practitioners, and other sources to
AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America personnel.
Research and Development Director Douglass Adams appeared via teleconference and provided a brief
background on this matter. There was no further discussion on this matter.
Pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the
Corporation for National and Community Service for services as described above.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 585-24, and
recommends its adoption.
