COUNTY OF IIAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE GRANDPARENT'S DAY EVENT. WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center (NKCRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide local support, funding, and education for projects that will benefit the community of North Kohala; and WHEREAS, the Kohala Resilience Hub is a program of the NKCRC, which is coordinating an event called Grandparent's Day in honor of all the grandparents who share their love and wisdom with family, friends, and the community; and WHEREAS, the Grandparent's Day event will be held at the Kohala Resilience Hub on September 7, 2024, and will include entertainment, refreshments, and informational booths to educate kupuna on services they might need such as healthcare, home care options, hospice, day care services, and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits; and WHEREAS, the NKCRC is requesting funds to provide a sound engineer, recycling station, kupuna plate lunches, and kupuna family portraits for the Grandparent's Day event; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide community events in a drug- and alcohol -free environment such as the Grandparent's Day event; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the North Kohala Community Resource Center for expenses relating to the Grandparent's Day event.
