Please reject biU 121. |'rn astounded that this is even a vote given the overwhelming rejection this bitted
has received from the community.
Here are the reasons why this should be rejected:
1) You don't know the economic impact this will have. How many units will be taken offthe market? How
many of those will become long term rentals? How much tax revenue and tourist retated revenue wilt the
county lose? How many jobs wilt be lost due to less tourism? I'm sure you do more research buying a
taundry machine for your home and this is 1 bittion times more impactfut. Ptease manage our
government in an appropriate and mindful. manner. Current and future generations are counting on you.
2) You are making future residents weaker by taking away a valid way for people to make money. What
kind of government would knowingly take action that would make its residents weaker? I know many
people who woutcl tike the option of renting out their ohana on a short term basis but will never rent it out
long term.
Here are alist Ofalternative ways tOopen upand improve housing supply:
-Offer tax credits that supplement rental revenue to those who rent tong term
-make it easier to remove tenants who don't pay rent
-reduce red tape, simplify permitting process and do other things to make it easier to build houses
-allow for and iDC8DtiViZ8groups tike habitat for humanity.
-take government land and buy pre-fab housing in the thousands for peopte in need of housing.
