Thank you to everyone who submitted written and oral testimony opposing bill
121. 1 am grateful for you and I stand with you!
TO ALL OF THE COUNCIL MEMBERS, PLEASE DO NOT VOTE
FOR THIS BILL WITHOUT FINISHING THE STUDY YOU
VOTED FOR. WHAT IS THE RUSH? I HOPE YOU ALL KNOW
IT WILL LOOK VERY SHADY IF YOU ALL OF A SUDDEN HAVE
A CHANGE OF HEART. WE WILL VIEW IT AS AN ELECTION
STUNT THAT WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN BY THE FAMILIES
AND ELDERLY YOU PUT ON THE STREET! THIS WILL MAKE
YOU LOOK UNRELIABLE AND CROOKED!
What was the point of voting for Resolution 556? Any ethical council member
would make a motion to delay the vote until the study has been completed. I am
not shocked that our council member in District 4 is pushing for the final vote as
she is clearly Heather's puppet and will do whatever she can to use her
community as a stepping stone in her career.
Unfortunately in District 4, 1 can tell you our council member is not listening to the
people in our district. People need job security, not a politician that thinks murals
and parties have anything to do with her participation. We will do that either way.
She is not needed for such things.
We are all asking for you to wait to vote on this until after the study is finished
and yet, we are again ignored. So many promises and so little action. Our
council member never added anything for eco-tourism on agricultural land as
discussed, never came to visit the rentals she will be shutting down as she said
she would. What more will you destroy for our community on your way out of
your position. I truly cannot believe you are pushing for a final vote today. It is
absolutely disgusting. I'm tired of these co-authors talking out both sides of their
mouths.
You're supposed to be serving the public, not yourselves. Your push today for
final vote makes you both look pathetic in every way you think you're going to
look good. I hope that one day you see the desperation this island smells on you.
Can we all talk about the winner from District 5, we all know which way he's
voting. The guy can't even bother with an economic impact study. Way to do
your research before shutting down hundreds of family businesses.
What do you expect will happen if this bill passes? Heather gets a promotion?
Ashley gets whatever Heather promised her along with what was promised to all
of you? I would watch my back around people like that. I would not want to give
into what they want at the downfall of so many families and elderly people.
THIS BILL WILL RUIN LIVES!
This bill is poorly written and lacking evidence. I hope you are listening to
people's testimonies and taking into consideration the extreme damage the rush
on this vote will cause instead of only listening to Heather's empty promises.
I look forward to a better Puna but it won't be from Ashley. How damning it will
be for her that she was a co-author on this bill. I am hopeful that our next council
member for District 4 in a couple years won't kiss Heather's ass the way our
current councilor has! Ashley, you are proving to be a sellout.
