Re: Testimony in support of STRs
I am writing in support of short term rentals. I am a 25-year resident and educator on the Big
Island. I now also operate a legal short term rental. This generates viable income, not only for
my family, but also for the county and state.
Many of my guests have been families with children, and have directly expressed that STRs
made a vacation here affordable,and. therefore, possible.These guests are an important part of
the tourist industry, bringing money to our local businesses. Why would we limit our tourist
industry to only guests who can afford the prices of hotels and resorts? This is short-sighted and
nonsensical.
