Aloha,
I am a home owner in District 2, Hilo, and I run short term vacation rentals from my permanent
residence. It is the only way I can pay my mortgage. While I agree unhosted rentals owned by out of state
residents are catastrophic to our housing market, for some of us locals renting space in our homes is the
only way to make [ife work on this island. I'd like to attend the 19th session Hawai'i County Council on
August 20th from the Hilo location and tend my support to increasing regulations and restrictions on
unhosted rentats, but avoid making it more challenging for people who reside here to pay their
mortgages.
