Nunes Sent: Monday, August 19, 2024 8:09 AM To: Council Testimony Subject: Owner Testimony, Please Accept Aloha, Council Members: My husband and I own a small one -bedroom condo in the Sea Village and have owned it since April 15, 2016. At first my husband wanted to keep it just for our own use, once or twice a year for approximately 2-3 weeks per trip. But we quickly learned that expenses were adding up, and these "trips" for our own use were ultimately very expensive! So we started offering it first to friends and family and then opened it up to a wider audience. About 3 years ago, we put it on AirBnB and have had a good experience. We now are retired and come for approximately one month, 3 times per year because my husband is now on the Board. This small unit has brought us so much enjoyment, but also a lot of worry and concern as insurance costs skyrocket, along with Property Taxes, (with no limits how much they can increase each year!) We should not have to endure more regulations, more restrictions or higher costs, than we already pay! Before we bought in the Sea Village that is in Vacation Zoning, we owned a 2 Bd/ 2 Ba Unit in the Sea Villas on Kuakini Hwy which was in Residential Zoning. It had one set of Renters from the time we bought it until we sold it about 5 years later. We never got to spend one night in it! We don't want more complications that would make it difficult for our use and enjoyment of our little unit. Please use your integrity; put yourself in our shoes before your vote in more regulations that are unfair to us little, law-abiding citizens just trying to get by. One of the first lessons my little Portuguese Mom taught me was to treat others as you would want to be treated! Alnh;al "M
