Subject: OPPOSE Bill 169, Draft 3, Kona Three LLC
Hello County Council
I am writing to OPPOSE Bill 169, Draft 3.
This project is opposed by so many different organizations and groups, including the County of
Hawai'i Cultural Resources Commission, the County of Hawai'i Kona Community Development
Plan Action Committee, the County of Hawai'i Leeward Planning Commission, the County of
Hawai'i Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission, and volunteer,
UNPAID archeologists.
This planned development is in a flood plain, there is no mitigation for homes that are living makai of
the development, and the lower cost homes would be at the bottom of the flood plain. There are
archaeologically significant items in the area, and the development would force critical habitat loss for
native wildlife.
The planned development would impact the Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is at
capacity, and is already violating the Clean Water Act by dumping into the waters off Kona.
Please OPPOSE Bill 169, Draft 3. Please SUPPORT Communication 896.150, for a full Council site
visit.
