Support for Bill 174
Aloha,
I just came across a social media post talking about Bill 174 and we are in support of
this bill. People are having hard financial times right now and long term renting a room
in their homes or on their property may be helping them (including our kupuna) to pay
their bills and support their family. This may also positively increase supply of long term
rentals for Hawaii County. Homeowner's should not be punished and lose a tax
exemption for long term renting, they may be doing this out of necessity and it helps to
encourage more long term rental options.
