JNtY'OF <br />-.4 <br />4 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAIJ STATE OF HAWAIJ <br />ZF <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PATH — PEOPLE FOR <br />ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION HAWAIJ TO PURCHASE PET WASTE BAGS FOR <br />THE DISPENSERS AT THE OLD WALUA TRAIL. <br />WHEREAS, nearly four miles long, the Old Walua Trail is a shared -use pathway in <br />Kailua-Kona where the community can go to enjoy the scenic beauty while walking their pets, <br />jogging, and bicycling; and <br />WHEREAS, PATH — People for Active Transportation Hawaii (formerly known as <br />"PATH — Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii") is a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is to connect people and places with pathways and bikeways on Hawaii Island; and <br />WHEREAS, PATH coordinates "Kokua Walua," a quarterly cleanup event at the Old <br />Walua Trail; and <br />WHEREAS, as part of its efforts to keep the trail clean, PATH is requesting funds to <br />purchase disposable pet waste bags for the dispensers at the Old Walua Trail; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports PATH and its continued <br />efforts to provide a safe and clean trail for Hawaii Island residents and visitors to enjoy; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency <br />Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution <br />identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, <br />equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to PATH — People for Active Transportation Hawaii to <br />purchase pet waste bags for the dispensers at the Old Walua Trail. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
