A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PATH – PEOPLE FOR
ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION HAWAI‘I TO PURCHASE PET WASTE BAGS FOR THE DISPENSERS AT THE OLD WALUA TRAIL.
WHEREAS, nearly four miles long, the Old Walua Trail is a shared-use pathway in Kailua-Kona where the community can go to enjoy the scenic beauty while walking their pets, jogging, and
bicycling; and
WHEREAS, PATH – People for Active Transportation Hawai‘i (formerly known as “PATH – Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaiʻi”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect
people and places with pathways and bikeways on Hawai‘i Island; and
WHEREAS, PATH coordinates “Kokua Walua,” a quarterly cleanup event at the Old Walua Trail; and
WHEREAS, as part of its efforts to keep the trail clean, PATH is requesting funds to purchase disposable pet waste bags for the dispensers at the Old Walua Trail; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports PATH and its continued efforts to provide a safe and clean trail for Hawaiʻi Island residents and visitors to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to PATH – People for Active Transportation Hawai‘i to purchase pet waste bags for the dispensers at the Old Walua Trail.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
