RESOLUTION NO. 626 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA 0 PUNA TO
ASSIST KEA'AU MIDDLE SCHOOL WITH BUS TRANSPORTATION FOR ITS
YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES IN THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR.
WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna (MOP) is a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose
mission is to provide community resources to maintain a safe and healthy community through
environmental education, hands-on projects, advocacy, watchdogging, and land trusting; and
WHEREAS, Kea'au Middle School is coordinating activities for its leadership class in
the fall and spring semesters of the 2024-2025 school year that include visits to the County
Building, State Judiciary, and Youth Congress Hawaii Sustainability Summit in Kona; and
WHEREAS, MOP supports youth activities that foster a sense of community and
enhance the social and emotional well-being of students from the Puna region; and
WHEREAS, as the fiscal sponsor for these youth leadership activities, MOP is
requesting funds to provide bus transportation for the Kea'au Middle School's leadership class to
attend these activities; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug -free and alcohol -free
events and activities that enrich the lives of community members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Malama 0 Puna to assist Kea'au Middle School with bus
transportation for its youth leadership activities in the 2024-2025 school year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
