HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 628 Draft 01 2022-2024 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HŌLUALOA FOUNDATION FOR ARTS AND CULTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE “COOL FUSION: FESTIVAL OF 1,000 BOWLS” EVENT AT THE DONKEY MILL ART CENTER. WHEREAS, the Hōlualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides art programs and education for children and adults of all ages and abilities at the Donkey Mill Art Center in Hōlualoa; and WHEREAS, the Donkey Mill Art Center is a community art center serving the West Hawai‘i community and local schools through hands-on classes, exhibitions, and events showcasing contemporary arts, crafts, and culture; and WHEREAS, the “Cool Fusion: Festival of 1,000 Bowls” will be held on September 21, 2024, at the Donkey Mill Art Center, which will include hand-thrown bowls made by local artists, interactive art activities, live music, Korean ceramic and culinary traditions, as well as an opportunity to meet and learn from a visiting artist-in-residence who will conduct a pop-up lecture and pottery demonstration; and WHEREAS, the Hōlualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture is requesting funds for the rental of tables and chairs, printing of posters and postcards, event signage, and video production of the pop-up lecture and pottery demonstration by the visiting artist at the “Cool Fusion: Festival of 1,000 Bowls”; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to support economic development through projects and events that build community such as those that are held at the Donkey Mill Art Center; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Hōlualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture to assist with expenses for the “Cool Fusion: Festival of 1,000 Bowls” event at the Donkey Mill Art Center. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General       AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION:  $7,000       OUT AND FROM:    010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $7,000      CREDITED TO:    010.161.5161.60 Department of Research and Development $7,000   Destination Management    115 Tourism Promotion, Misc. Contract Services    (Hōlualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture – “Cool Fusion: Festival of 1,000 Bowls” Event)    BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
