Subject: Bill 121 Oppose
As my wife and I are on the mainland, visiting a very ill adult child, we cant attend the September 3'd meeting.
If it is the intent to continue to offer up amendments to this bill, then we urge the committee to make major
amendments to the fine schedule and items that can be considered to be an infraction. The fine schedule as it
is currently addressed in this bill, would cause my wife and I to discontinue any short or long term rental of our
current attached 2 bedrooms of our home. Most likely the loss of this revenue could very well cause us to
move from the island back to the mainland. Secondly, we strongly urge the committee to grandfather in all
existing hosted unit who have paid the property taxes and have complied with the state and county transient
tax mandates and who have no outstanding complaints on file with county planning department. We have
been good neighbors and have complied to the current bill 108. There is no valid reason to include us in this
new bill other than to make it so difficult and expensive for us to continue to operate, that we will give up. If
thats your intention then you will succeed, but at what cost? Only a fair and comprehensive economic impact
study will tell.
Do the right thing and table this bill until after the study is completed.
Thank you
