ARTICLES 1, 4, AND 5, OF THE HAWAI'l (Draft 3) COUNTY CODE
1983 (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATION
RENTALS AND HOSTING PLATFORMS Repeals Section
25-4-16 through Section 25-4-16.3 relating to Short-term Vacation Rentals and establishes
new provisions for Transient Accommodation Rentals and
Hosting Platforms for Transient Accommodation Rentals.
Dear Councilwoman/man,
As a short term Host and vacation Renter in Hawaii County, Hawaii, I am writing to you in regards
to the above referenced Agenda item, Bill 121.
Hosting on the most beautiful and vacationed state in America has enabled families to have the vacation
of a life time in Hawaii at reasonable prices. These families vacationing help support jobs and add
economic growth into the communities and businesses across the entire Big Island. Bringing in millions
of dollars overall in income to restaurants, retailers, renters, sports activities, resort venues, and much
more. Hosting has also been beneficial to my family as a supplemental income.
It is my concern that adding complex registration, increased fees, and new restrictions and
regulations, on short and mid-term rentals will negatively affect Hosting in Hawaii County. To negatively
affect Hosting you will in affect negatively affect communities and businesses that rely on the
vacationeers we host.
I am asking you to please reject adding these complex registration requirements, increased fees,
increased restrictions and regulations, that you are proposing on me and many many more individuals
who have the opportunity to help Hawaii's economy.
