RE: Opposition to Bill 121 (Draft 3)
Aloha Chair Kierkiewicz, Vice Chair Inaba and Committee Members,
Thank you for your service and consideration of the testimony you continue to receive
regarding Bill 121.
My recommendation is to pause for the economic impact study.
The economic impact study should be informing this legislation. I'm grateful the study is
forthcoming and believe it's the responsibility of this committee to evaluate the results
prior to passing Bill 121. Even well-intentioned legislation can have far-reaching
unintended consequences and I continue to have concerns about how the proposed
legislation will impact the economic well-being of Big Island residents in practice.
