Subject: Testimony (against further restriction and regulation short-term rentals)
Aloha and thank you for this opportunity to provide written testimony against further restriction and regulation of
short-term rentals. My wife and I are teachers. Renting our ohana is what allows us to pay the bills. Our
salaries do not match the increased cost of living. Of course we would love to keep our home to just
ourselves and yet, this is the way we make it work. With just a bit of supplemental income. One pro is that we
are able to show aloha to guests and they usually fall in love with our island. To further restrict and regulate
short-term rentals only plays into the hands of much less sustainable and community building efforts.
