COUNTY OF HAWAIJ STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 6X-i 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAMAKUA HEALTH CENTER INC. FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE LADIES NIGHT OUT BREAST CANCER AWARENESS EVENT. WHEREAS, the Hdmdkua Health Center Inc., doing business as Hdmaktia-Kohala Health, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides local support, funding, and education for projects that will benefit the communities of Hdmdkua and North Kohala; and WHEREAS, the Ladies Night Out Breast Cancer Awareness Event is a program of the Hamdkua Health Center Inc., which is an annual event that provides the public with free health education and the opportunity to have discussions with women's health providers; and WHEREAS, the Ladies Night Out Breast Cancer Awareness Event will be held at the Ikuo Hisaoka Gymnasium at Kamehameha Park in Kapa'au on October 18, 2024, and will include entertainment, refreshments, and women's health education; and WHEREAS, the Hdmdkua Health Center Inc. is requesting funds to rent a sound system and to purchase reusable bags for participants, food, drinks, health screening supplies for diabetes testing, and newspaper and radio advertisements for the event; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide community events in a drug- and alcohol -free environment such as the Ladies Night Out Breast Cancer Awareness Event; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAFI that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hdmdkua Health Center Inc. for expenses relating to the Ladies Night Out Breast Cancer Awareness Event.
