COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAII <br />,rE•OF •MF' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 643 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SUSTAINABLE <br />ENERGY HAWAI`I FOR THE BIG ISLAND ELECTRIC VEHICLE ASSOCIATION'S <br />2024 HE ALA PONO ELECTRIC VEHICLE AND SUSTAINABILITY FAIR. <br />WHEREAS, Sustainable Energy Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is to enable an economic, social, and environmental revival in Hawaii through a <br />transition to sustainable, 100% locally sourced, renewable energy; and <br />WHEREAS, Sustainable Energy Hawaii is working in partnership with the Big Island <br />Electric Vehicle Association (BIEVA) to coordinate the 2024 He Ala Pono Electric Vehicle and <br />Sustainability Fair, which is a one -day celebration in recognition of National Drive Electric <br />Week; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2024 He Ala Pono Electric Vehicle and Sustainability Fair will be held <br />at the Prince Kuhio Plaza on October 19, 2024, and will include a variety of participating <br />organizations focused on sustainability, while providing information on the benefits of electric <br />vehicles and how residents can participate in personal and community actions to support the <br />expansion of public charging infrastructure; and <br />WHEREAS, Sustainable Energy Hawaii is requesting funds to cover facility rental <br />expenses and to purchase reusable bags and informational materials that will be handed out to <br />the public at BIEVA's 2024 He Ala Pono Electric Vehicle and Sustainability Fair; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports community -centered <br />events and programs that are based in sustainability; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency <br />Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution <br />identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, <br />equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Research and Development to provide a grant to Sustainable Energy Hawaii for BIEVA's 2024 <br />He Ala Pono Electric Vehicle and Sustainability Fair. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
