14 or <br />J�T <br />COUNTY OF HAWAVI STATE OF HAWAVI <br />RESOLUTION NO. 64 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KOHALA <br />HERITAGE CENTER FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL <br />CENTER. <br />WHEREAS, the Kohala Heritage Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated <br />to collecting, preserving, promoting, and celebrating the rich and diverse history of North <br />Kohala; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kohala Heritage Center achieves its goals by building generational <br />bridges through oral history programing, public displays, and archiving of historical material in a <br />climate -controlled room; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kohala Heritage Center is working to finish and outfit its Public <br />Educational Center, previously known as the Bond Library, with various equipment for the <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kohala Heritage Center is requesting funds to purchase an iMac <br />computer and iPad for a media station, dehumidifier for document and book preservation, 24 <br />wooden folding chairs for public presentations, and an Alert Alarm system; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping <br />with the goals and objectives of the department to support organizations that keep our <br />communities safe and strong through drug- and alcohol -free environment such as the Kohala <br />Heritage Center; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'l that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kohala Heritage Center for expenses relating to its <br />Public Educational Center. <br />
