RESOLUTION NO. 649 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NA'ALEHU
THEATRE FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL ALOHA SHIRT FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Nd'dlehu Theatre is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to
present and produce educational programs in the performing arts including drama, dance, music,
and Hawaiian cultural programs; and
WHEREAS, Nd'dlehu Theatre is hosting the 3rd Annual Aloha Shirt Festival that will be
held October 3-6, 2024, at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa, which is a celebration of
Hawai'i's fashion legacy, combining both traditional and contemporary wearable arts to
showcase the islands' unique contributions to the industry; and
WHEREAS, the festival offers a range of cultural and creative experiences each day
including live music and hula, a pop-up marketplace, workshops, a lei competition, fashion
shows, and a vintage "aloha wear" exhibit; and
WHEREAS, Nd'dlehu Theatre is requesting funds for a hula hdlau to hold the festival's
opening cultural protocol and a series of traditional workshops and demonstrations; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug -free and alcohol -free
events that enrich the lives of community members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIJ that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Nd'dlehu Theatre for the 3rd Annual Aloha Shirt
Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
