COUNTY OF HAWAII °• STATE OF HAWAII 04 J' �}f Of N►'� RESOLUTION NO. 654 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NA`ALEHU THEATRE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS 2024 ALOHA SHIRT FESTIVAL. WHEREAS, the Nd`alehu Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created to provide intergenerational entertainment and educational programs that serve the local youth in rural areas who are at risk for drug abuse and economic disadvantages; and WHEREAS, Nd`dlehu Theatre is hosting the 2024 Aloha Shirt Festival, which will feature the local garment industry and showcase contemporary designers, vintage collections, and repurposed clothing collections during fashion runway shows; and WHEREAS, the 2024 Aloha Shirt Festival will be held at the Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa on October 3-6, 2024, and most of the activities will be free to the public; and WHEREAS, Nd`alehu Theatre is requesting funds to purchase display tables, vintage- themed shelves, track lighting, signage and labels, decorative elements to complement the exhibits, and easels for its daytime vintage exhibit at the festival on October 4-5; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs and activities that promote education and well-being in a drug -free and alcohol -free environment, such as the 2024 Aloha Shirt Festival; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Nd`alehu Theatre to assist with expenses for its 2024 Aloha Shirt Festival. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
