J�tvfur Hew <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 655 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE 12 STEP OHANA <br />CLUB OF KONA, INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS RECOVERY <br />MEETINGS. <br />WHEREAS, The 12 Step Ohana Club of Kona, Inc., is a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization created to provide support and recovery from substance use disorder through 12 <br />step meetings and programs, in a clean and sober environment; and <br />WHEREAS, The 12 Step Ohana Club of Kona provides and hosts recovery meetings <br />that are open to the public throughout the year for those wishing to attend Alcoholics <br />Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al -Anon, Adult Children of Alcoholics, Codependents <br />Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and Overeaters Anonymous; and <br />WHEREAS, isolation can often be a major factor for individuals in the early stages of <br />substance use disorder recovery, making participation in community meetings essential for <br />successful recovery, with both newcomers and those with long-term sobriety attending recovery <br />meetings organized by The 12 Step Ohana Club of Kona; and <br />WHEREAS, The 12 Step Ohana Club of Kona is requesting funds to assist with <br />expenses for its recovery meetings such as books, brochures, banners, meeting refreshments and <br />snacks, janitorial and kitchen paper products, stationary and printer supplies, and exterior <br />maintenance supplies such as tools, paint, and herbicide; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs and activities that <br />promote education and well-being in a drug -free and alcohol -free environment, such as the 12 <br />Step Ohana Club of Kona recovery meetings; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAPI that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to The 12 Step Ohana Club of Kona, Inc., to assist with <br />expenses for its recovery meetings. <br />
