A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HŌLUALOA VILLAGE
‘OHANA FOR EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ITS 22ND ANNUAL MUSIC AND LIGHT FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Hōlualoa Village ‘Ohana is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose objective is to promote the history and lifestyle of Hōlualoa Village through historic preservation and
documentation of its buildings, businesses, and people; and
WHEREAS, every December, Hōlualoa Village ‘Ohana rolls out the holiday red carpet, inviting visitors and residents to ring in the holidays Hawaiian style by lighting up the night with
the annual lighting of the town Christmas tree, plus an appearance by Santa, lots of live music, gallery gatherings, art openings, food, drink and more; and
WHEREAS, the Hōlualoa Village ‘Ohana will host its 22nd Annual Music and Light Festival event on December 7, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Hōlualoa Village ‘Ohana is requesting funds for venue fees, special duty officers, portable lua’s, signage, banners, posters, flyers, and programs for its 22nd Annual Music
and Light Festival; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to increase the economic contribution of the visitor industry to Hawai‘i Island, promote quality experiences
for visitors, and promote a high quality of life for Hawai‘i Island residents; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to the Hōlualoa Village ‘Ohana for expenses associated with its 22nd Annual Music and Light Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
