A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NĀ‘ĀLEHU THEATRE
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS 2024 ALOHA SHIRT FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Nā‘ālehu Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created to provide intergenerational entertainment and educational programs that serve the local youth in
rural areas who are at risk for drug abuse and economic disadvantages; and
WHEREAS, Nā‘ālehu Theatre is hosting the 2024 Aloha Shirt Festival, which will feature the local garment industry and showcase contemporary designers, vintage collections, and repurposed
clothing collections during fashion runway shows; and
WHEREAS, the 2024 Aloha Shirt Festival will be held at the Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa on October 3-6, 2024, and most of the activities will be free to the public; and
WHEREAS, Nā‘ālehu Theatre is requesting funds to purchase display tables, vintage-themed shelves, track lighting, signage and labels, decorative elements to complement the exhibits,
and easels for its daytime vintage exhibit at the festival on October 4-5; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs and activities that promote education and well-being in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment, such as the 2024 Aloha Shirt
Festival; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Nā‘ālehu Theatre to assist with expenses for its 2024 Aloha Shirt Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
