Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 613-24, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 613-24, transmitted by Director of Finance Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 1019, dated August 28, 2024, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the U.S.
Department of Energy, Office of State and Community Energy Programs pursuant to Hawaii Revised
Statutes Section 46-7, for a grant to the Office of Sustainability, Climate, Equity and Resilience.
This resolution allows for the receipt of$228,640 of federally-derived funds to be used to create an
Energy Management Plan for County of Hawai`i facilities.
Committee Members Ashley Kierkiewicz and Rebecca Villegas voiced support for the measure.
Pursuant to Hawai`i Revised Statutes Section 46-7, the Mayor of the County of Hawai`i is authorized to
execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the U.S. Department of
Energy, Office of Stte and Community Energy Programs for the purpose as described above.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 613-24, and
recommends its adoption.
