No. 614-24 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 3:01 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 614-24, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 614-24, transmitted by Director of Finance Diane Nakagawa via Communication <br /> No. 1020, dated August 28, 2024, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Federal <br /> Emergency Management Agency pursuant to Hawai`i Revised Statutes Section 46-7, for a grant to the <br /> Hawaii Fire Department. <br /> This resolution allows for the receipt of$488,722.63 in federally-derived funds, which would be used <br /> to establish a Hazard Zone Incident Command and a Control Training Program to provide safe, <br /> effective, and efficient emergency response operations. <br /> Battalion Chief Patrick Springer from the Hawai`i Fire Department Training Branch provided a brief <br /> overview of the program and the department's goals with using the funds. <br /> Committee Member Ashley Kierkiewicz voiced support of the measure. <br /> Pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7, the Mayor of the County of Hawai`i is authorized to <br /> execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the Federal Emergency <br /> Management Agency for grant funds as described above. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 614-24, and <br /> recommends its adoption. <br /> lh <br /> AYES NOES ABS EX Respectfully submitted, <br /> EVANS X <br /> GALIMBA x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> INABA X <br /> KAGIWADA X <br /> KANEALI`I-KLEINFELDER X <br /> KIERKIEWICZ x MATT KANEALI`I-KLEINFELDER, <br /> KIMBALL x CHAIR <br /> LEE LOY X FC REPORT NO.: 197 <br /> VILLEGAS X ADOPTED: OCT 0 2 2024 <br />
