Extension
Dear Mr. Soon:
Pursuant to the request of the Hawaii County Council at its meeting of
March 21, 2000, this will request that the State of Hawaii Department of Hawaiian Home
Lands reconfirm the position expressed by former Hawaiian Homes Commission
Chairman Kali Watson to the effect that the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands
concurs with the dedication to the County of Hawaii of the sewerline and facilities
constructed by Maryl Development, Inc., now known as Maryl Group, Inc., connecting
the Waiakea Center project from Makaala Street to the Hilo Wastewater Treatment Plant
in Hilo, Hawaii. Attached for your reference is a copy of the November 12, 19981etter

SUBJECT: Dedication o_ sewerline and Facilities within Makaala
Street to County of Hawaii
This will confirm that the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL)
concur with the effort by Mary1 Group, inc., the successor to Maryl
Develoomen[, Inc. (Maryl Group), to dedicate to the County o` Hawaii
the s=_werline and facilities constructed by Mary1 Group connecting the
Waiakea Canter project from Makaala Street to the Hilo Wastewater
Treatment Plant in Hilo, Hawaii.
We understand that DHHL General Lessee Waiakea Center, Inc. (WCI)
ent_red into a construction contract with Maryl Group for the
construction of the sewerline extension within Makaala Street
connecting to the County of Hawaii wastewater system in Hilo.
?ursuant to the provisions of their contract agreement, Mary1 Grouo
retained ownership or" the sewerline, easements and facilities for the
purpose of dedicating them to the County of Hawaii for the County's
future ownership, maintenance and control, in perpetuity.
