RESOLUTION NO. 661 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO THE OFFICE OF
MANAGEMENT FOR THE SISTER CITY PROGRAM,
WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor's Sister City Program promotes friendship,
goodwill, and understanding between global communities by providing opportunities for the
residents of Hawaii Island and our Sister Cities to experience different cultures through
education, social, and economic interactions; and
WHEREAS, the Sister City partnerships across France, Chile, Japan, South Korea,
Taiwan, and the Philippines are fundamental to the vitality of Hawaii Island as these
relationships enrich our community with global perspectivies and shared experiences; and
WHEREAS, looking towards a sustainable future, it's important to strengthen
relationships with our Sister Cities, learning from each other and building critical networks to
foster resilience, mutual support, and understanding; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor is requesting funds to assist with expenses
associated with coordinating the Sister City Program such as transportation, facility rental, food
and beverages, audio/visual equipment rental, refreshments, cultural exchange items, translation
services, printing, paper goods, etc.; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAFI that
Contingency Relief fiords from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office of
Management to provide funds for the Sister City Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Honorable Mayor and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the tennis of this resolution.
