STATE OF HAWAVI
RESOLUTION NO. 662 24
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION TO AWARD FUNDS TO HAWAVI HI -DIVING FRIENDS
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii
County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000
to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the
grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in a resolution;
and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County
Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization that is registered and in
good standing in the State of Hawaii as a nonprofit organization and maintains a
501 (c)(3) charitable designation from the Internal Revenue Service; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii HI -Diving Friends, which qualifies as a nonprofit
organization as defined above, will utilize the funds towards the third and final phase
of their Charles "Sparky" Kawamoto Swim Stadium Dive Tower New Staircase
project; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to provide
$62,850 to Hawaii HI -Diving Friends; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in
accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County
Code, the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to provide a grant of
$62,850 to Hawaii HI -Diving Friends to provide services as indicated above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit copies of this
resolution to the Office of the Management, the Finance Department, and the
Department of Parks and Recreation.
