RESOLUTION NO. 673 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KU ANUENUE FOR
ITS INAUGURAL INCLUSIVE PROM.
WHEREAS, Ku Anuenue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to
create and sustain space for and with mdhu and queer people, from keiki to kupuna and their
families and caregivers, to empower each other and our larger community with shared resources
and mutual support; and
WHEREAS, Ku Anuenue is hosting its inaugural Inclusive Prom at Sangha Hall at
5:00-9:00 p.m. on November 22, 2024, and all Hawaii County high school students are invited
to attend, as well as their registered guests from ages 13 to 20; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the inaugural Inclusive Prom is to provide a safe space for
mdhu and queer youth to flourish and enjoy living their authentic selves; and
WHEREAS, Ku Anuenue is requesting funding assistance to help purchase balloons,
centerpieces, photobooth decor and floral, event favors, and swag bags with event merchandise
for the inaugural Inclusive Prom; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that
are in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support drug -free and alcohol -
free events for the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Ku Anuenue to support its inaugural Inclusive Prom.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
