<br />RESOLUTION NO. 677 24
<br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
<br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
<br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
<br />CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER OF EAST HAWAI`I, INC., TO ASSIST WITH ITS
<br />EMERGENCY CLOSET PROGRAM AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH.
<br />WHEREAS, Friends of the Children's Justice Center of East Hawaii, Inc., (FCJCEH) is
<br />a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to meet the needs of abused and neglected
<br />children of East Hawaii and to educate the public about child abuse; and
<br />WHEREAS, FCJCEH needs financial assistance to continue providing community
<br />outreach and education about its programs, such as its 24-hour Emergency Closet program that
<br />provides basic necessities and other essential items to help children who are victims of abuse; and
<br />WHEREAS, FCJCEH is requesting fiends to assist with printing informational materials
<br />and handouts, administrative fees, and purchasing items for its Emergency Closet program that
<br />include clothing, footwear, hygiene and grooming items, bathroom essentials, dental supplies,
<br />furniture, bedding, school supplies, laptops and accessories for homework, car seats, baby
<br />diapers and wipes, baby food and feeding essentials, pacifiers, educational and therapeutic toys,
<br />coloring books, first aid kits, sanitation items, plastic storage bags and bins, flashlights, head
<br />lamps, batteries, bicycles, and athletic gear; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide
<br />education and promote a healthy, alcohol -free, and drug -free lifestyle for our residents; and
<br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C)of the Hawaii County Code,
<br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
<br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
<br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
<br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
<br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Children's Justice Center of East Hawaii, Inc.,
<br />to assist with expenses relating to its Emergency Closet program and community outreach.
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
<br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
