A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HĀMĀKUA HEALTH CENTER
INC. FOR THE HONOKA‘A RENAISSANCE FAIRE.
WHEREAS, Hāmākua Health Center Inc. (HHC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides quality healthcare and is responsive to the needs of its patients and the community; and
WHEREAS, HHC is one of many local organizations, including the Honoka‘a Heritage Center, Honoka‘a Union Hall, Keystone Waldorf Homeschool, Friends of the Libraries of Hāmākua, Waimea
Community Theatre, Boy Scouts of America Aloha Council Troop 1, Ka Hale O Na Keiki Preschool, Kō Education Center, and others that are collaborating with the Honoka‘a Business Association
to support the Honoka‘a Renaissance Faire; and
WHEREAS, the Honoka‘a Renaissance Faire will be a free event for all ages, taking place at the Honoka‘a Sports Complex on November 9, 2024, featuring wandering minstrels, side quests,
shield maidens, festive food and drinks, archery, medieval crafts for the keiki, and more; and
WHEREAS, HHC is requesting funds to assist with expenses for the Honoka‘a Renaissance Faire that include facility fees, sound equipment, stage tent, and porta potty rentals; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide events and activities that address the needs and interests of our diverse communities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Hāmākua Health Center Inc. for the Honoka‘a Renaissance Faire.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
