Re: Comm. No. 1056/Bill No. 211
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 211, reports as follows:
Bill No. 211, transmitted by Director of Finance Diane Nakagawa via Communication No. 1056, dated
September 13, 2024, amends Ordinance No. 24-32, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County
of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.
This bill increases revenues in the Federal Grants — American Rescue Plan Act Local Assistance and
Tribal Consistency Fund account ($32,922.96); and appropriates the same to the American Rescue
Plan Act Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund account, for a total appropriation of
$832,922.96. Funds would be used for any governmental purpose other than a lobbying activity.
Finance Director Diane Nakagawa was present in chambers for questions.
Committee Member Cindy Evans asked if there was a plan for these funds. Ms. Nakagawa replied that
these funds would be used to purchase automated external defibrillators for the Hawaii County Fire
Department and Police Department vehicles.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 211, and recommends
its passage on first reading.
