I wanted to submitwritten testimony in favor of hosted STVRs in Hilo for the upcoming meeting.
Hilo is a very under serviced town for nice accommodations as weLl as tacking in rooms for event weeks. We provide a
very nice place for 2people tostay, which in turn helps us to pay to Live in this very expensive and disproportionately
paid salary based area. We are hard working residents of over 20 years and trying to make ends meet and send our
children tucollege.
If this is not part of our income, we will. have to seLL out home and move, which I feet, will be a Loss to this community.
The buyers wiLl most Likely by out of country investors that will buy our house and come stay in it maybe 20 days a year.
This is the case with 3 other homes in our neighborhood already. Sure, you will probably get more tax money from
foreign investor taxes, but empty homes destroy a community.
We are routinely told by our guest that they would not come to Hilo without a ptace like ours to stay,cvthat they are ao
glad they found uasince everything else was booked. This helps the smaller Hilo tourism market and every business
where they shop and eat and then directly gives more tax money to the county and state.
Ptease leave this format as it is and do not make us pay more in fees and taxes as we already pay so much.
