Subject: Subject: Concerns about Bill 121's Impact on Hosted Vacation Rentals
Aloha Chairperson Kimball,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding Bill 121 and its potential impacts on our'ohana. My
primary worry centers on the recent Supreme Court decision that now makes all vacation rental
operations on Ag-zoned land illegal. This means the Planning Department will not be able to issue
permits, effectively banning hosted vacation rentals on agricultural land. Thousands of families'
livelihoods are now at risk.
Before moving forward with Bill 121, 1 strongly urge the County Council to wait for the results of the
economic impact study. Rushing this bill could have severe consequences for many in our
community.
It is also important to note that there have been no compelling reasons presented for this legislation.
The County Council has yet to identify a significant number of complaints or adverse impacts on
neighborhoods from hosted rentals, where the owner lives on the building site,
