I ask the County Council to delay any decision on this bill until after the economic impact study is completed. The recent Supreme Court decision has made all vacation rental operations on agricultural (Ag) zoning illegal. This means the Planning Department will not be able to issue the required permits. Effectively, Bill 121 would become a ban on hosted vacation rentals on agricultural land. My family solely depends on this income and this decision would kick us out of our house and we would lose our house. Let us also remember that there have been no significant complaints or problems reported regarding hosted rentals where the owner lives on the property. This legislation seems unnecessary without evidence of issues impacting our neighborhoods. PLEASE: County has instituted a study on the economic impacts of Bill 121. The County Council should wait for the results before taking any action. When combined with the Rosehill decision, Bill 121 is an effective ban on vacation rentals on Ag zoning. That means the bill is the death sentence for thousands of families who depend on visitor income to make ends meet Mahalo, Kristin Fagerbacks.?
