The recent Supreme Court decision makes all vacation rental operations on Ag zoning illegal. This means the Planning Department will no longer be able to issue permits, effectively banning hosted vacation rentals on agricultural land. This puts the livelihood of thousands of families in jeopardy. I urge the county council to wait for the outcome of the economic impact study before proceeding with Bill 121. Implementing this ban without understanding its full economic impact could have dire consequences for many families who rely on this income. There have been no compelling reasons identified for this legislation. The County Council has not pointed out a significant number of complaints or adverse impacts to neighborhoods from hosted rentals, where the owner lives on the property.
