A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA PRESERVATION
ASSOCIATION FOR ITS WAIKOLOA CERT PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring people together to protect and honor the cultural, historical, and natural
resources of Waimea; and
WHEREAS, the Waikoloa CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is a unit of volunteers dedicated to preparing for and responding to hazards that threaten its communities; and
WHEREAS, the Waikoloa CERT training and preparation will allow community members to respond and assist each other by providing damage assessment, search and rescue, first aid, and communication
in those hours between an incident and the return of services from official first responders; and
WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association, in partnership with the Waikoloa CERT, is requesting funds for replacement storage batteries and accessories, GMRS radios and rechargeable
batteries, and HAM radios and rechargeable batteries; and
WHEREAS the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide community projects and activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment such as the Waikoloa CERT project;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Waimea Preservation Association to support the programs and activities of the Waikoloa CERT.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
